SpaceX Tuesday evening was a major breakthrough in the development program of its Starship spacecraft, which flew the SN5 prototype of the future car to an altitude of 500 feet, powered by a single Raptor engine. The test, which took place at the SpaceX rocket development and testing facility in Boca Czech, Texas, was the first to indicate that a full-scale starship prototype has left the field.
The company has released video of the entire test, which includes footage of the drone as well as a camera mounted on board Starship SN5, showing the Raptor engine in action. As the landing legs are active in landing.
Following the successful test, Elon Musk, CEO and founder of SpaceX, outlined the next steps in the starship development process, including “several” more short hops, followed by a height test. Landing legs will also undergo some changes, first extending in length and then widening and lengthening, which will enable them to land on more uneven terrain. According to Musk.
